"Ungurmuiža" is a harmonious ensemble of wooden buildings of the 18th century, surrounded by giant oaks, it occupies an important place among the heritage of Latvian cultural monuments. It was built in 1732 by Baron von Kampenhausen as his family's house, and currently it is the only Baroque wooden building in Latvia. The 18th century is equally unique. wall paintings. A manor under oaks and lindens - this is the first impression of everyone who comes to "Ungurmuiž". This place seems miraculously sheltered from the storms of fate. However, it is not only the harmonious combination of landscape and construction art that evokes special feelings and gives "Ungurmuiža" an aura of exceptionality. It is the atmosphere flying over everything, created by the spiritual environment in which "Ungurmuiža" was created and in which it was destined to live until the First World War. The manor was built not to ostentatiously boast of its luxury, but so that the manor would especially fit into the surrounding environment, respecting old traditions and practicality. This is exactly what is important to Lieutenant General Balthazar von Kampenhausen and his wife when they start building this estate. The "Ungurmuiža" manor house was one of the first large-scale Baroque buildings built in Vidzeme after the disastrous Northern War. Limbaz painter Georg Dietrich Hinsch turned the interior of the house into an endless and comprehensive world of paintings, where everything is moderate, harmonious and harmonious.
