A monk's feast for two at Jaunpils Palace
The knight's castle, built in the 14th century, still surprises its visitors with its thoroughness and its medieval aura, which can be felt in the museum, rooms and hotel rooms, as well as in excursions and events with medieval characters.
In one of the oldest parts of the castle, under the vaulted ceiling, the medieval pub of the Jaunpils castle is arranged, where guests of the castle can feast on delicious dishes and medieval feasts in the light of candles and the sounds of ancient music.
Jaunpils Castle has long been known for its medieval feasts, which are not just a meal, but also a real adventure in a medieval atmosphere by candlelight. The meal is special because it can be eaten both with wooden spoons and with your hands.
For strength, the castle family offers beer-braised pork ribs, wine-braised chicken leg, egg-fried fish, oven-baked potatoes with whole skins, stewed sauerkraut, boiled gray peas, pickled butter beans and other delicious medieval dishes.
For dessert, there will be an apple-almond pie, a large nut cookie and a handful of dried berries and hazelnuts. The meal will be perfectly complemented by kvass and wine from the palace cellars.
