The knight's castle, built in the 14th century, still amazes its visitors with its solidity and medieval aura, which can be felt in the museum, the premises and hotel rooms, as well as during excursions and events with medieval characters.
In one of the oldest parts of the castle, under a vaulted ceiling, the Jaunpils Castle Medieval Tavern is located, where guests of the castle can feast on delicious food and medieval feasts by candlelight and to the sounds of ancient music.
Jaunpils Castle has long been known for its medieval feasts, which are not just a meal, but also a real adventure in a medieval atmosphere by candlelight. The meal is special because it can be eaten both with wooden spoons and with your hands.
The castle family offers beer-braised pork ribs, wine-braised chicken drumsticks, fish fried in eggs, oven-baked potatoes with their skins on, stewed sauerkraut, boiled grey peas, pickled butter beans and other delicious medieval dishes.
For dessert, there will be apple-almond pie, a large walnut cookie, and a handful of dried berries and nuts. The meal will be perfectly complemented by kvass and wine from the castle cellars.
